The Chamaedorea is a slow grower but can rise up to 80cm within a few years, if well looked after.

Likes

Sharon the Chamaedorea loves bright but filtered light and a humid atmosphere. She can withstand a darker spot too.

Dislikes

Sharon does not like direct light as harsh sun will scorch her leaves.

Health and benefits

The Chamaedorea made it on to the NASA's list of 50 indoor plants that clean the air.

Watering and feeding

Very little water is needed in Winter to keep our Chamaedorea happy: allow the top of the soil to dry out before watering again. In summer, make sure to keep the soil moist at all times. Feeding Sharon every couple of months with a liquid fertiliser will be more than enough.

Living with pets and children

Our Chamaedorea is non-toxic to dogs, cats - and humans!

Pots

Likes

Succulents grow best in plenty of light: a sunny windowsill would be the ideal spot for them to thrive!

Dislikes

Like most low-maintenance plants, these guys do not like to sit in water, so allow to drain completely and remove the water from saucers or containers.

Watering and feeding

Water succulents from below by soaking the pot and allowing it to drain. This avoids getting their leaves wet, which can cause them to rot. Wait unti the soil is completely dry before further watering, which generally translates as once every 4-5 days in the spring and summer and once every 10-14 days in the autumn and winter.

Living with pets and children

This mix of succulents will not cause any harm to dogs, cats and humans.

Height: 70-80cm; Pot width: 21cm

(All plant heights are measured from the base of the pot)

Likes

Happy in almost any light condition, but she'll grow best if in bright light.

Dislikes

This plant is practically indestructible unless it has been overwatered.

Health benefits

NASA recommended this plant in its famous clean air study for its natural capacity to remove toxins from its immediate environment. And, while most plants take away oxygen at night, this one gives it off during night hours, making it perfect for the bedroom.

Watering and feeding

During spring and summer months, keep the plant's soil moist, but not wet, watering about once every two to three weeks. Over winter, allow it to dry out completely before watering moderately. As a general rule, this means once a month or so. Make sure that Susie isn't sitting in water, she hates wet feet.

Living with pets and children

If ingested, can cause upset stomach among dogs and cats so best to keep it out of their reach

Details

Our Philodendron comes in two sizes:
Plant height (including pot): 20-30cm
Plant height: 120-130cm

Phil can grow up to 1.5m. He will run out of moss pole to grow up before too long but his climbing foliage can extend beyond the pole unless you pare him back.

Likes

Phil likes indirect light, so being placed next to a window will please him greatly and keep his leaves looking their best. Given his South American background, he also likes a warm, humid environment.

Dislikes

Phil will let you know if he isn't getting the right amount of light. Too much will cause his leaves to go yellow and too little will result in long stems and small leaves.

Watering and feeding

Phil likes his soil to dry out between waterings, so be sure to check that the top inch of soil is dry before watering. A Philodendron will tell you if he isn't happy with your watering, as his leaves will go droopy if you are under- or over-watering him.

Living with pets and children

The leaves of the Philodendron are poisonous to both animals and children, so both should be kept from eating them.
