Louisville finally lured Jeff Brohm away from Purdue on the second try, boosting expectations of the former Cardinals standout quarterback guiding the program to the next level in the ACC. He replaces Scott Satterfield and takes over an eight-win, bowl-winning team after coaching Purdue to the Big Ten championship game last season. Brohm's success with the Boilermakers and at Western Kentucky could shorten the grace period another coach might enjoy. Louisville returns 15 starters and added 26 transfers including ex-Cal and Purdue QB Jack Plummer. It opens the season on Sept. 1 in Atlanta against Georgia Tech in ACC play.
